Kozii's Summer 2024 Indigenous Collection was desgined was Indigenous Artist, Pearl Campbell.

Pearl Campbell, the artist behind the designs is a Gamilaraay woman who resides and creates on Minjungbal land in sunny Tweed Heads, NSW. The Gamilaraay nation is one of the fourth largest Indigenous nations in Australia and lies within the border of northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland.

Pearl created this collection with colour and the natural world in mind. She has a personal connection with the land and ocean and wanted to reflect that in the pieces, using the colours and she sees in her environment around her and the vibrancy and energy the earth provides to us every day.

The aim of each indigenous piece of art and design I create is to bring awareness and appreciation to Aboriginal culture and contemporary Aboriginal art. Using my art in swimwear gives people the opportunity to be proud of Australia's rich and important history in a unique way.

Pearl
The print was named after the artist and uses colours inspired by the precious ocean. This print was designed with the ocean and swimming in mind, showing dots and circles using bright and fun colours which symbolise the ocean gemstone, with a background of blue and white, symbolising the sea and waves. These colours complement all skin tones and look great while having fun or training in the water.

Opal
Opals hold spiritual importance within Indigenous communities of Australia and are significant in many Dreamtime creation stories. Pearl used blues and greens which are found in the Opal with winding lines, dots, spirals and shapes that also reflect themes of water. These colours shine when worn and will stand out by the water.

Jalahn
Jalahn (Dja-lan) means Rainbow in the Bundjalung Language, on which Kozii swimwear resides and creates. The artwork shows a birds eye view of the land, with many symbols and shapes that represent all parts of the earth that are in harmony, with the rainbow beneath and in between that is bright and energetic. This print is available in boys and girls, so the whole family can feel proud and look great in these bright colours.

Jagun
Jagun (Jar-goon) meaning Country and Land in the Bundjalung Language, on which Kozii swimwear resides and creates. Pearl used earthy tones of reds, pinks and oranges to showcase the colours of our land.
The concentric circles and dots represent meeting places, energies & landmarks of Australia. This print is not as bright as the others in our 2024 Indigenous collection, but stands out on its own with harmonising colours that complement all skin tones.
